We are excited to announce that Mattie C. is going to be joining the Cove coaching staff! You may know her as a high level athlete (she still holds the record for power cleans at the LSU track program) but it is her supportive nature (nobody cheers like Mattie) and her desire to help other athletes that made her a perfect addition to the team.
She is Level I CrossFit Certified and has been on-boarding with us over the last few weeks. In addition to shadowing classes and learning the ins and outs of coaching here at the Cove, she has been helping as an assistant coach the past couple of weeks. In a former life, Mattie served as one of the instructors for the Maryland State Police PT program, still owns a landscaping business (sometimes she will wod in her landscaping gear) and has recently become a real estate agent. Helping people shine is something she loves (and is pretty darn good at), and we cannot wait to see what she unleashes on the floor. As she said, “I love those moments where someone ‘gets it’. When they move beyond what they thought they had the ability to do. I love that feeling myself but get an even greater kick out of seeing it in other people. It’s all part of the being the community here. We all celebrate each others victories.”
We look forward to being to lean on Mattie’s extensive athletic background, passion for fitness, and sharp coaching eye. Mattie will be coaching her first official classes for the 5:30 and 6:30 AM classes TOMORROW (Tuesday!)
