When you step into the Cove you are in a unique place where positivity, support and encouragement prevail. The very nature of our name “The Cove” connotes a protected enclave – that is, place you can go to that offers a respite from the pressures of the outside world. And it is a place where you can just let loose.
We believe in ‘play’ and ‘fun’ but believe equally in hard work and getting results. That’s why we call our kettlebells, rowers and ropes are our ‘toys’ and we love coming in each day to get to play hard with them.
The Cove is different from all other Crossfit gyms. We understand that finding balance among career, family and self is a constant struggle that often feels impossible to reach. With Crossfit Cove’s extensive class schedules, kids programming, child care, family programs and a supportive community you will see there’s a solution for any situation. We promise your experience inside the Cove will help you take on the realities of life outside the Cove.
What makes us so different from other gyms? In gyms and health clubs throughout the world the typical workout consists of isolation movements and extended aerobic sessions. The fitness community from trainers to the magazines has the exercising public believing that lateral raises, curls, leg extensions, sit-ups and the like combined with 20-40 minute stints on the stationary bike or treadmill are going to lead to some kind of great fitness.
So let’s say you’ve belonged to a commercial gym. Maybe you’ve been there for 2 years. You see the same people every day. You never talk to them. After 2 years you notice that they all look exactly the same as the first day you ever saw them, despite the fact that they spend at least an hour a day on the elliptical while reading a magazine or talking on their cell phones. And worst of all, these commercial make money when you DON’T come – this means they don’t want you there!
We are the antithesis of a commercial gym. We NEED you to come. When our athletes attend regularly it builds a community and support system that is critical to the success our gym. Unike the headphone on, no eye contact interaction, CrossFit is based on a team workout structure. All participants in each class warm-up together, do skill work, perform the workout of the day and cool down together. As a team, as a family, as a unit, we start and end the workout together. Pushing, encouraging, and helping each other each step of the way.
At CrossFit Cove we work with compound movements and shorter high intensity cardiovascular sessions. We replace the lateral raise with push-press, the curl with pull-ups, and the leg extension with squats.
This is because compound or functional movements and high intensity or anaerobic cardio is radically more effective at eliciting nearly any desired fitness result.
