CrossFit Kids sits right at the intersection of fitness and fun. The point is to make exercise fun and a part of everyday life early on. And with schools under pressure to meet standardized testing goals, recess has been cut back and even eliminated in some schools. Research shows that kids who don’t play much tend to struggle with self-control and learning, which can haunt them throughout their lives.
Crossfit Kids at the Cove is reinvigorating a ‘culture of play’. Class is not a scaled down version of the adult classes, but it is entirely and specifically geared toward kids and their specific developmental needs.
Healthy living requires “general” abilities in that our kids must (be able to) push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, and jump, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they play sports. Since CrossFit is a generalist program, our kids program follows a similar philosophy. We cover the broad skills and movements essential for life and athletics. Improvements in the gym translate directly to better performance on the soccer field, playground, AND classroom.
Every session includes a warm-up, focus work on a basic athletic movement and or gymnastics skill, a short Workout of the Day, and games. As with the adult program, we find the scalability equally applicable to our younger population. Classes are structured to give the athlete’s progressive training in gymnastics and strength training resulting in an increase in self-esteem and confidence.
The Cove Kids classes will be designed for kids ages 5-10. While we will fill class with fun activities and games, a big goal of the program is teach your children the foundational movements that will serve them well in the long term (in sports AND in life!). with the schedule as follows:

The 4 week session costs $60 for Cove members and $75 for non-members (yes, friends are welcome!!)
