GOBBLE GOBBLE! – THANKSGIVING WEEK SCHEDULE

Veterans Day
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as “the Great War.” Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.
We recognize this holiday today (Friday) but the official day is Saturday. But today, tomorrow or ANY day…let’s recognize all American servicemen and servicewomen and especially thank our MANY Cove athletes who have served (and are currently serving) this country. We are forever grateful for what you do.
As a gym we will be doing Chad and Nate as a partner wod. A number of our athletes did Chad a couple of weeks ago and this is a workout about mental fortitude. Remember the “why” behind this today. We’re focusing on honoring and supporting the veteran community and specifically those who suffer from silent diseases of PTSD and other mental health disorders.
CROSSFIT KIDS IS BACK
The winter months can be tough on all of us, as it can be difficult to stay active with the colder weather. We have sorts of challenges (pull up and committed club) to help keep the Cove community but we want to provide for support not just for our members, but also our younger athletes out there. Without an outlet to burn off some energy our kids can be “difficult”. The Cove CrossFit Kids program is focused on giving our kids a fun, physical outlet to move, get stronger, grow, and learn about themselves. This Saturday, we are relaunching both of our CrossFit kids classes and it couldn’t come at a better time.
At 1 PM, we have the Firebreathers class for kids ages 4 to 8 (this is a general prescription). This class is focused on presenting fitness in a fun environment, as kids develop strength, coordination, and body awareness in a positive environment of their peers. This class lasts for 45 minutes and is perfect for the kids to be introduced to the power of CrossFit.
At 2 PM, we have the Dragons class which focuses on older, more experienced athletes. This class mimics the regular CrossFit class but is scaled to the age and abilities of our younger athletes. The focus of this class is to build a foundation on which they can eventually transition into regular Cove classes. The Dragons class will often have a strength/skill piece (this week we are retesting our bench press) and of course a metcon. We are so excited to see what sort of growth we are going to see from the Dragons!
If you have a CrossFit kids punchcard, we ask that you reserve your class time via the Wodify app (here is a video on how to do it). If you have any problem reserving a spot for your child, just let us know.
If your child is interested in either of these programs, reach out to us at info@crossfitcove.com.

FIRST PULL UP PROGRAM
Today starts the Cove Pull-Up Challenge for November (as well as us tracking for our first round of the committed club). We have nearly 30 people signed up so far and we are always looking for more to come join in on all the fun.
For those athletes searching for their first pull-up, we developed a program and a video series to help our athletes get that first pull-up. If you are searching for your first pull-up, if you can train 3 days per week for the month of November before or after class using this program we expect you to make great progress.
We are super excited to what sort of progress the entire gym can make with this challenge.
